St. Oswald

King and martyr, d. 642. When his father was killed by the King of the East Angles, Oswald fled to St. Columba's monastery at Iona. Nearly 20 years later Oswald defeated the Britons in battle and reunited the Kingdom of Northumbria. Article in the Catholic Encyclopedia.
