St. Benedict of San Philadelphio

Also known as Benedict the Moor. Born in Italy to Christian slaves from Ethiopia, St. Benedict joined an association of hermits, and when that was dissolved, became a Franciscan Recollect. Biography in the Catholic Encyclopedia.
