The year 1969 was a turning point for me.I was about to leave for Southeast Asia to go fight a war that I only seen on TV and heard on the am radio. Also the first landing of men on the moon. As I think about all the technological classes I was taught on the latest US inventory aircraft, and the performance that these aircraft could do. Icome to realize that a moon landing by any country would be far fetched and close to imbrobable in that time period. Yes we had to show the world that we had the technology to do so. But did we? Remember computers were still in their infancy at that time and took a whole room to house it. Today we still have problems with our space shuttles reentering our atmosphere. So an entire crew of men sent to the moon and back a reality? Maybe not. Maybe with extremely step on dog doo luck.

It does seem rather improbable the more one thinks about it. Think about the effort it takes NOW just to get into low earth orbit. Why goto the moon and then design a spacecraft that couldn't even get out of low-earth orbit. It doesn't make any sense. They didn't even "try" to design the shuttle differently. And its going to take a decade with tehcnology now just to try and make a craft to get out of low earth orbit. Something doesn't add up.
