I moved with my family into an old house in Tulsa, Oklahoma. A few weeks after, maybe two months, I was in the back yard with my little sister. She pointed up to the side of the house and asked where the windows she was looking at were inside the house. I told her not to be stupid, that this side of the house didn't have any windows. But I looked up, and there were not only windows, but pink curtains with white lace as well. We raced inside and began to bang on the wall where we had seen the windows, but there was no echo, nothing to suggest that something had been boarded up. My father called the man we bought the house from, he said there had never been any windows there, and that nothing had been boarded up.

My room, looked like the attic, the walls were rough wood, there was a walk in closet, a walk in storage room, a place in the ceiling where a ladder fell down to lead to the real attic, and a crawl space that went all around under the roof. The ceiling sloped down to the floor on two sides of the room. At night, there would be creaking noises in the crawl space. The door to the wlak in storage room would open and close itself with such force that it would wake me and my friends at night out of a dead sleep. My mother insisted it was a draft, but the door would stick tight and not move if you pushed on it.
