Beauty indeed is powerful, but not more powerful than anything. Indeed it is only skin deep and lasts for a measured time. When a man and woman marry it is never for the looks of the other, but it is what is inside a person that you ultimately marry and you have to live with. Irrespective of what they may look like.
A man may desire to have sex with a woman because he finds her attractive, but it wont in itself be enough for anything more than that. That to me is not all that powerful.
I know people who are attractive yet physically not beautiful, you see it depends on may things.
Attractive people are not always beautiful and beautiful people are not always attractive.

As far as love goes, we should take aleaf out of the Greek language. They use 3 words for love, one means a family maternal/paternal love, one means erotic love., one means an affectionate love and the other talks for the Love of God towards us as humans. I think to use the word love in English isnt enough in itself to describe what we mean.
Love in correct place as we understand it, is to be felt by a man and woman towards each other and eventually their kids within a family. It is supposed to be a strong and powerful force that binds families together, sadly it is often abused and can be used negatively too, which works against us and as you describe, causes kings to fall etc..
