Kriss, Carla, are any effects on Fear staged?

Are any moments of the show artificially created to "motivate" a fear reaction or are you contractually obligated not to say one way or another? I wouldn't bash the show even if they did resort to small hidden speakers. After all, they're promising real fear, not real ghostly events that cause that fear.

And can either of you honestly say that to your experience every location shown in the show thus far is "verifiably" haunted to some degree? Or again, is there a contractual obligation not to say?

On a scale of 1 to 10, how do you rate the Mina Los Estrellas site as a paranormal hotspot, with 1 barely registering and 10 being a paranormal hotbed of activity? If the first team's reaction is any indication, it's practically off the scale.

I really enjoy the show. Keep up the good work. But personally I'm more interesting in the truth behind the show and not what's in front of the camera. I'm not a nonbeliever, but let's just say I'm highly skeptical but fascinated.

We do not create any effects on Fear. I have been told not to disclose location information until after the show airs, but thats it.

I cant personally vouch for every location, because I came on after the first 4 shows were done. I can tell you that the crew experienced hauntings during the shooting of those shows. The producers arent stupid, I dont think they would waste a ton of money investigating a place thats not haunted.

I can vouch for every show since then, the locations are all haunted. Mina Dos Estellas is at least an 9, if not higher. It is one of the most active locations yet. You have to remember that we have the money to find the most haunted places available, and thats what we do.

I'm glad you enjoy the show, thats what its all about. Its good to be skeptical, I am extremely skeptical myself.

Ok, just one last request, and I do appreciate you taking Time to answer my questions.

Can you give a quick rating of the other locations that you worked on using that same scale? And do you have any comments about any of the sides you worked? Any thoughts, anecdotes, interesting tidbits?

By Kriss on Friday, March 29, 2002 - 07:46 pm:

USS Hornet 8
Fort Gaines 7
Desert Plantation 5
Eastern State Penitentiary 9

And I cant talk about the others just yet, but they are up there.

I would never hint that you reveal any secrets, I was referring to the sites that you have already visited. You are generous enough with your insights as it is.

But I admit I am intrigued by something I see as somewhat contradictory. If the plantation was the least "active" on the scale, why did that site have the most distinct evidence of paranormal activity (i.e. door slamming). All I know is what I've heard of that door incident, however. I haven't had the luck of watching that episode yet.

By Kriss on Saturday, March 30, 2002 - 05:45 pm:

Well, door slamming is a common event in hauntings. I was rating the locations on the level of the haunting, the number of ghosts, the intensity.

All the locations are haunted, but some are more intense than others. Keep in mind, those ratings are my own personal choices.

The events are not staged?
In Mina Dos Estella the doors slammed on the guy in the oven, yet we only see the interior shot, not the nightvision exterior shot which would have shown how that door closed. Same for the chicken bait scene. Clearly the show is edited for "fear", but all the times things have jumped out we see the shaking body cam not the stationary nightvision shots.

Is there any advantage for the producers/crew to say these are staged - of course not.

By Kriss on Monday, April 1, 2002 - 09:14 pm:

No, the events are not staged. Seriously, if we were going to stage things we would STAGE things, really scary stuff, not doors slamming.

I dont know why it is edited the way it is. Sometimes the footage from the nightvision cameras isnt viable, we have that problem alot in the really active areas.

Question for Kriss: In the Minos Dos Estrellas, the couple of dares that were aborted by the second team...the hospital and smokestack were deemed permanently incomplete because the surveillance cameras were disabled. Why was that? and do you think because something or someone disabled it?

By Kriss on Wednesday, April 3, 2002 - 03:31 pm:

We were having problems with those cameras the entire time, so they finally went down.
