I have been reading some of the statements posted on this site and i am quite surprised at some of the replys. From what I can gather the Myan calender was based more on the movement of the sun that on the movement of the earth. It would appear that on that date the sun's activity will cause sterility of all people on earth.

One of the Myan pyramids has a floor of solid formica. The massive piece of rock was carved out of mountain some 20 kms away and was transported to the pyramid. How they managed to hack a piece of solid rock the size of football field out of the mountain, transport it to the pyramid and raise it in place is not as mystifying as to WHY they would want to do it. One theory is that this sheet of formica (which is known to have insulative properties) was to protect them from the suns radiation during 2012 and thereby prevent sterility.

My personal theory is that the guy who drew up the calander figured he would'nt be around in 2012 so he did'nt bother doing any more work on it.

It's a sad commentary to see the mentality of people. They're reacting exactly like those who lived during biblical times. Times that were fraught with superstition(which continues today).
Doomsayers, soothsayers, seers and prophets were so prevalent than that anything they said conjured up fear of the end of the world. And that was over 2,000 years ago and continues on today. Humans will accept a lot nebulous crap such as biblical prophecies which afterall were written and embellished upon by men. These stories were passed down generation after generation and somewhere along the way the real meaning of what was originally written was lost or altered to fit someone else's idea of what happened back then. If I understand it properly the Mayans believed that the end would come when our technology turned on us. In a world that is being run more and more on computers perhaps 2012 will be the birth year of artificial intelligence. Being the violent fearful race that we are we may atempt to destroy it. If the AI is sentient would it not stop at nothing for self preservation? In such a case the "END" would come either from 1)it destroying us, thus no more humans. or 2) us destroying our own technology, thus going back to square one.

I must say the majority of you people are nuts. It is now 2000 and the world has not ended yet so people have got it into their heads that they should start stocking up once again for another "calamity" that will occur in 2012.Why can't you people all see that it is nothing but pure bull! If anything drastic is to happen, the earth's upper crust will probably break and shift violently. This act will be so violent that we sould see crust displacement hundreds of miles in spots. All ocurring and moving within minutes or hours. Tidal waves thousands of feet high, 500 mph winds. A long thousand year ice age may follow as the poles may have deviate or shift. No man knows the hour or the day of our Lord's return...However I do not recall any scripture that states no man knows the hour or the day of the Earth's rebirth. In scripture I can find evidence that we are not on the original earth that the planet has been re-done so to speak several times. Changes are already occurring in the realm of our reality. The actual calender we use may have little to do with what happens in 2012. As this site will tell you, the human mind can affect changes in it's environment. If a large enough group of these minds all believe something will happen at a certain time (say, sometime in the year 2012), then whether or not something was going to happen, something WILL happen.

Modern Animals? Or some other species that dosent, and never has existed? Well... only time will tell.

I know your just 14 and don't know much astrology yet, but it only takes minutes for light to reach the earth from the Sun, not years.

Also, as a matter of science, the earth will not exist when the sun finally burns out. The first stages of its end will see it expand to the point at which it engulphs the inner solar system and if it doesn't extend out to earth's orbit, earth will be melted away completely long before the sun fades.

So as for the earth, it will always be lit (albeit hot as hell) till the end.

This brings up a problem I'm been noticing in all things paranormal or scientific in the public consciousness. What is with the documentaries on TV these days??? Being Halloween the airwaves are flooded with so called "documentaries" about spirit phenomena. These "docutainmentaries" however have lately consisted mainly of staccato footage of some mental hospital or abandonned prison with some over produced "spooky" graphics and voice overs. This is all due the wildly, yet still in my mind inconceivable successful run of THE BLAIR WITCH NONSENSE (which has done so much damage to any serious research of the paranormal). The main breadth of the investigations on these shows usually involves some idiot, slackjawwwed 20/30somethings (and incidently I'm in my late 20's so please no "you're just too old to get it! recriminations) going into said decaying mental hospital with steady-cams on, scaring themselves like kids in a carnival funhouse (which essentially they are) and then running out terrified. What is their observation of paranormal activity? - "I, like, totally felt something in there! It was, like, totally evil!"

Am I the only person who sees a problem with this? Of course there are still (thank heavens) serious researchers still out there. But even they must be a little dismayed by these spook shows that diminish the precious bit of credibility for which they constantly fight.

The accuracy of the Myan Calander is impressive and required a sophisticated scientific understanding of astronomical movements and may well have evolved from astronomical observations of ancient mariners.
It is widely held that the first inhabitants of the new world arrived via.the Bering Strait but the Polynesians successfully populated the tropical islands of the Pacific.
If they (Ancient Mariners) found their way to Latin America the arcitects of the Myan calander may have had access to astranomical record of sufficient accuracy and antiquity to succesfuly identify an astronomical cycle or phenomenon that is not identifyed by the "Western Calander"

The devil has the power to see into our futures (fortune tellers) albeit a limited power. (and yes there are cranks) The oujaboard does work, I know it. Spells and curses carry power, undoubtedly some are very powerful, ghosts do exist I believe it.
But I know having been on the devils side and coming into Gods kingdom, which side gives me a peace I have never known, satisfies the questions I had been asking all those years. Gives me reality and truth, and a God who really loves me for me. A God who can set all free, who heals disease (freely), and delivers the depressed and oppressed.

You see there is a spiritual realm. Here in the UK folk mock that (most folk that is).
In Africa they readily accept it. They are aware that natural circumstances are moved many times by the spiritual realm. One African told me that when some one is sick over there they go many times straight to the witchdoctor...why not pray to God I asked. Because with the witchdoctor we see quick results they reply.
And they are right. But what they dont know is that with any demonic power that heals, is that there is always a price to pay in some other way.
When God heals its because Jesus paid the price.
There is a time in God when we have to be persistent in prayer and patient until we break thru and see results. We have to seek the face and voice of God.

So if there be any out there, and I know I am addressing somebody who is seeking truth reading this....then persist in your search for truth. I did I found jesus, I found that all my young life I was looking for something seeking, searching, becoming a witch for a short time. realising that it wasnt meeting my needs and infact caused me great depression and disatisfaction.

look people, lets get down to basics. first off, history repeats its self. civilizations come and go, and there really is nothing we can do about it. it might be the end of the world and it might not. i doubt it is b/c so many times people have predicted the end of the world on so many different dates that earth should be space dust by now if they were true. back during the civil war they thought it was the end of the world, and the leader of the south at that time was believed to be the antichrist, as was hitler, as was hannibal, and others. we are always gonna have some crazy nutcase try and take over the world or destroy everything that means anything to people.

secondly, religions all have their end times. none are set in stone. they all have to have a set of things that MUST definatly happen for the world to end. some of the things have happened, but they also have happened many times. i am not gonna try and impose on everybody what i believe (religiously wise), but many people believe in one form of religion or another. another thing on this: how many people do you know practice the mayan religion? i have not met or even heard of anybody now days that does. besides, from what i have heard and read, they used many "mind expanding" plants in many of their cerimonies and that their priests used quite frequently.

third, all you people that think that we are gonna be visited by aliens, why worry about it if we do? i have never seen a ufo or been abducted by aliens, but that doesn't mean they aren't out there. i just think they would have done something by now if they were gonna do something. reason for thinking this: if they have all this great advanced technology, then why would they make a deal with the gov't when they could commit experiments anyway and there wouldn't be anything we could do to stop them? think about that one.

if the world ends, it ends. there is no point worrin' about it. just go out and enjoy life, be kind to others, and live everyday to its fullest. there is no point in getting all worked up over the inevitable.

The maya people used another calendar. The year 2012 was found by the white people, the same which destroyed their culture. The calculation for 2012 is probably not correct since our calendars (Gregorian and Julian, specially Julian) were full of mistakes.

Anyway, the maya people believe a great world desaster would happen in 2012 or whatever near 2012. This desaster is the pole shift predicted by many other prophets. If we look the myths and legends of other south american cultures, sometimes we will find descriptions of old catastrophes and sometimes prophecies of this next one. This year, 2012, is certainly an approximate date for the pole shift desaster. I read near 500 books on prophecies in different cultures and I know what I am talking about. The "global warming" is the beginning of the pole shift. The globe is warmer only in the North hemisphere. Please check NASA temperature maps and you will find some cities very in the south of South America, South Africa and Australia are even 2 C colder while in the north are sometimes 2 c hotter than 50 years ago. The slow pole shift is already happening. The sudden desaster will happen soon. Cayce predicted 50 years of slow pole shift and so the sudden one. The whole thing about the end of the world frightens me. I think 2012 may be a ballpark figure. The possibility of a comet hitting us doesn't seem so remote. The possibility of world war doesn't seem remote, either.

I've just read some of the comments about the bible and the role religion plays in this predicting the end of the world. I can respect the fact that many people do not believe in the bible.

However, when discrediting such an ancient library (yes, the bible is considered a "library"). To some degree, I believe it holds maybe half a grain of truth. Consider this scenario: what if an alien culture from a neighboring solar system were to visit us. Upon discovering that this civilization (i.e. humanity) is not as advanced as theirs may be, one cannot, out of compassion and the fear of being alone as an intelligent species, realize that this species WILL one day develop technology to go to the heavens, one cannot walk away from the duty of informing this other intelligent species that there is danger -- that it is critical to be able to move worlds of intelligent civilizations across the galaxies. They probably realized for one reason or another that they couldn't stick around to prevent a comet from hitting us. This, perhaps, is the "test" that the bible talks about on Judgement Day. Keep an open mind: the object of the game is to pass onto the next stage of evolution. Think about this: Noah's Ark. Are we really sure that Noah's Ark is a boat? Could the Ark not really be a space lab that contained the DNA of all animals?

Now, think about this: If you were a member of the more advanced civilization, how would you ensure that future generations (the ones who will face the Judgement Day crisis) will be able to receive your message (in terms of technology used to destroy any comets crossing earth's path and in terms of ?coordinates?). How would you tell them where to find you? How would you ensure for the safety of your own people that the intelligent beings who will come to seek you will mean you no harm? The answer is simple: indoctrinate them with a religion. The objective of religion is to help you live with yourself and maintain order in a society. If one were to scatter the pieces of the puzzle amongst many different groups, it would ensure that the only way they will be able to piece together the puzzle is to work together (this involves compromise on the part of all parties) towards the betterment of the human race. If we could overcome our differences, we could overcome an enormous puzzle. It would ensure that the pieces will come together only if we are peaceful and able to co-exist with one another. THAT is the true test of our ability to move up the evolution ladder.

For example, if a comet were heading towards earth, we could destroy it if we put all our technologies together and worked towards a common goal. However, we are not doing that. We are fighting with each other about the nitty gritty details such as who has rights to what shrine/temple. Does that REALLY matter when we're discussing the fate of humanity? We seemed to have become obsessed with life after death. I see so much senseless violence resulting in death today. It is obvious that we are still fixed on looking after #1 that trivial things have upped themselves on our priority list.

Yet, though the clock is ticking, we continue to fight amongst one another.

I respect what every religion has to say but I think that some people take it too literally. The rules dictated by religion are meant to serve as a guideline in the way to exist to achieve the higher state (can the elevated state represent the survival of the fittest). The answer seems self-evident to me -- but I can understand why some people have missed the point in it all.

The bible speaks of a false messiah before the "end days". The Divine Book of the Revelations of St. John describes the seven candle sticks flying and talking to the author. Take note that the ancient man may describe nuclear missiles in space as "candlesticks". Note that there are seven of them and that they're all flying together. In the current age of plate tectonics, there are seven continents. Can it not symbolize the unity of the seven continents working together?

As well, keep in mind that many people have tampered with the text of the current King James bible. We may not have the full meaning because of human error during translation and because of orders from people such as King James so that it reads in accordance with the king's agenda. Critical books such as The Book of Enoch were eliminated altogether. If you're interested, try a lookup and someone out there will have a copy posted. It sounds a lot like he was in a spacecraft of some kind (such as a crystal hall where Enoch saw it glow). He would not have had a word for spacecraft or time travel or wormhole.

The stories sound fantastical enough where it's easy to write them off as works of fiction and just as easy to believe that they are too fantastical to be true. What's all this about the world ending on Dec 23 2012? If you studied the myan calander at all, you would see that only the calander ends on that date. NOT THE WORLD. Nowhere on the calander does it say "the world ends here". It does however indicate that a spacecraft will be visiting us on that date. The same one that according to the same callander, has visited before. On the same date, the same year Christ was born. It would have probably been identified as being a star since airplanes and orbiting satelites weren't invented yet and birds didn't give off light in the night skies. A strange star like that would probably be given a name such as "Star of Bethleham" . Mary, mother of Christ, was probably the first documented case of "alien abduction" even though she didn't mention that part. Only the outcome. They would logically choose a virgin because she would be less likely to have any form of STD. Artificial insemination is a common phraise now a days . It can be done with a turkey baster. Back then it was unheard of. If our God was going to plant his seed in a human virgin, that's probably how he would go about it. Maybe not with a turkey baster but with a similar tool.

Nostrodamus said in one of his prophecies that "In the city of YORK, there will be a great collapse, two twin brothers, torn apart by chaos, while the fortress fall, the great leader will succumb and the third big war will begin when the city is burning" He later goes on to say that behind the war is a man of pure evil in a blue turban. I will face death head-on. I have no fear about it until I see it happen to someone else. I then begin to wonder what its like and wish I could see what they see, but I don't think that will happen until I experience it for myself.

I agree with C.S.Lewiss interpetation of Matt24:32-36. the generaton that sees Isreal become a nation will not die off before the end of the seven year Tribulation. Those born on May 14th 1948 should have a life expectancey of about 72years. That means by 2020 it should be all over. The seven year Tribulation, therefore, would haft to begin somewhere around or before 2013. I dont know the day or the hour but I Know the season. To me anagorical interpretation is a form of inaccurate rewriting. So if you took the Proficies in Revelations (King of the South and the king of the North)for what they are and at the same time taking in concideration the Myan belief of 2012 we have no choice but to believe that we are living in the time of the end.

And what's with all this "we have no choice but to believe that we are living in the time of the end" ? Preachers have been saying this for 2millenia now, don't you think it's time to give it a rest? Jesus told his disciples that many of them would NOT taste death until he returned, well, where is he? Looks like the jokes on them, but if you still wanna wait, be my guest. I think that throughout history, there has been prophecies of apocalypse. It seems when there is alot of upheavel in the world (such as war, drought, earthquakes, etc.), the visions of apocalypse become more prevelent. It's not really up to us so my recommendation is to be the best person you can, and let things happen on their own time. We have no control anyway.

I agree with you, Dawn. People Start wars just because they're mad and inousent people get killed. But earthquakes and drouts and floods'ect are just things that happen and we don't know when. Hey, I know it's kinda' late to add this, but . . . there's no such thing as a "red dwarf". Our sun will eventually "expand" into a RED GIANT. Our sun will then proceed to "burb" off it's outer atmosphere and become a small, WHITE DWARF. Our sun WILL NOT go nova. That right is reserved for the big blue stars (I like to call them "Big Blue"):). When these stars run out of their "nuclear fuel", they expand into a super red giant and then go nova. They can then either become a pulsar (neutron star) or a black hole.

P.S. No one knows the day of the end of the world. NO ONE. Only the Lord knows. We are living in the end times, however. The signs are happening today. It's right there in the Bible. Those who are in the Lord should not be afraid, we will be going home. Death has lost its sting, praise the Lord!

In a way, the world ends so to speak for everyone at the point of death, regardless of whether that point is reached because of world catastrophies or natural causes. The difference being in the case of world catastrophies, that the world of their known life will not continue as it would ordinarily. I think a possible reason for people's preoccupation with this subject has nothing to do with their concern for the 'world' and 'what happens next for the world', but more to do with 'what happens next for me', that is, fear and anxiety about the afterlife, should it exist. What I am trying to say is, either way you are going to die eventually, maybe the issue of concern isn't about how you die, but what happens next?

(I am not going to make a prediction about the nature of an afterlife because it is still something I am trying to figure out for myself.)

One last thing. For people such as Mr Dump here, (and there are others too) whose only apparent significance to life is the number of times they take a dump by 2012, I realise being a smartass is fun (truly, I am not being sarcastic) but I hope that that is what the comment is about, and is not a reflection of the lack of depth in your life. I had just came back from Chichen-itza and had viewed the ruins. I was much impressed of how organized their culture was. The impression that I got from my guide was that the Mayas did not regard death the same way we do, they actually looked forward to it, it was another "station" in ones existence, another step. I think that you all have very interesting theories about the end of the world, religion and the extraterrestrial. However, I find that you all have very vivid imaginations and some twisted beliefs as well. You can quote the bible until you are blue in the face; however, it is now a beautiful book of fiction. The true meaning and message of the bible has certainly been lost in all the translations and the various "versions" of the bible. Science has proven that we are a product of evolution, and if you take the bible at it's current word, that God created Adam in His own image, then "God" would be something like an ameba.
Now, has it occurred to you that the Mayan who was producing said calander either got bored with the repetition and gave up on it, or died. Maybe he found other more interesting activities to engage in.
And as for the extraterrestrials coming here to earth to "study" mankind. If indeed they have all this advanced knowledge and technology, what would make anyone think that they would be interested in studying the idiots on this planet? If it were me, I would be looking for a planet with a greater abundance of intellegent life forms. As far as a theory on the year 2012 being the end of the earth, I think that it is all a bunch of hogwash, for lack of a non-vulgar word. People are trying to over-analyze the whole thing. If you read other calanders and works and proficies that are out there, you can place the ending date of the earth at almost any givin time and/or date.

Does anyone remember May 5, 2000? There were books and "survival guides" and even a website regarding the idea that the world was going to end on that day and disaster would reign due to some wierd planetary alignment. Well, we are still here and the people who wrote those books about "May 5, 2000" have gotten rich by capitalizing on people's fears. That is not to say that I totally discount the "2012" theory though. But instead of wasting my time worrying about something that I cannot control, I instead am going to enjoy every day that I am given and do my part to make the world a pleasant place to be. I believe everyone should read the Celestine Prophecy by James Redfield. Cristilizes how the world has been and will be. I remember hearing the world will end in 2013 Dec. 25. From researching the Mayans, listening to Art Bell, and being that I am involved in American Indian proficies (I am Iroqouis), Edgar Cayce, Nostrodamus, Hopis/Sedona, Star people/UFO's and Hinduism.

From what I have gathered we will see a new age coming the Hindus say the "Age of Kali". Nostrodaumus talks about the destruction and then a new beginning. Edgar Cayce speaks of "Earth Changes concerning destruction.

From what the Grays/Aliens have stated to an abductee "it will be a reconstruction not a total destruction". If we look at the earths history we can see that there have been other reconstructions, like the Noah story of the great floods, and the ice age.

It is inevitable as we have dug up other civilizations we will one day be discovered also.

Some of us are here now because we volunteered in our "soul groups" in the spirit realm to go on a mission. Some of us will survive mother earth will spit out all negative, destructive entities that are already feeding the "ego".

A Guru/spiritual master once said "all ills of the world are caused by the ego, it is when we let go of the ego that we learn to be spiritual".

What we can do is meditate as individuals and stop giving power to the media, corporations, and evil politcians and organized religions.
Stop buying processed food instead buy pure vegetarian foods, and/or grow your own. Read uplifting books like "Celestine Proficies" or Autobiography of a Yogi.

This is my first time to this web site, I just recently have learned about the Mayan Prophecy on Four Ahau Three Kankin. I think thats interesting on many levels. I dont think the world will come to an end on that date. Its possible that after that date they were not able to forsee any future events due to the precession, they had incredible mathematical capabilities its possible they only went to far. I think that jefferyallenmorse hit the nail on the head. I feel we can control our destiny and the destruction of the earth is only one futuristic possibility. If we listen to the messages givin to us through the bible, crop circles and spirits we will learn that there is something we need to do. Everytime you start to throw that ciggarette butt out the window, everytime you pass up a chance to recycle, or not to give to the National Wildlife Foundation, you are leading us toward a possible future which will bring on our distruction. 2012 is a curious number. Remember, Nibiru is supposed to be near out orbit sometime between May of 2003 and 2013. Theoretically, the geophysical pole shift caused by that will cause a 5 minute continental drift of 90 degrees.

Will the world end in the year 2012? I know it is not true. For the Jesus said that he will rapture his church before the rise of the anti-christ. I belive that very soon in one cataclismic moment millions vanished all over the Earth. Perhaps the year 2012 is the year when the beast will take possesion. Chaos will ensume the earth. Everyone will wonder why and how millions could disapear without a trace. Few will find out the truth that Jesus has raptured his church. However not all will be lost for thoes who are left behind. After the seven year tribulation predicted in revalation, the Glorious appearing of Christ will come to save his servents. It is said after that event, Jesus will throw the beast into the abys for 1000 years. So no the world will not end in the year 2012. And if you are not a brother in Christ, I dare you to look at the New Testement and read the profices that give warning of christ return.
